"This is the end result of all the bright lights... and the comp trips, of all the champagne... and free hotel suites,
and all the broads and all the booze. It's all been arranged just for us to get your money.
That's the truth about Las Vegas. We're the only winners. The players don't stand a chance. "

Day Trip -- Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

In LV for an extended trip?  Burned out and tired of the noise, the smoke, hordes of people?  Gotta rental car?  Take a day off and go check out Spring Mountain Ranch State Park.  It's about a 20-25 minute drive from the LV Strip.  Most tourists never even get to this place.  It's worth the time!  Here's the state of Nevada website for the park:    http://parks.nv.gov/smr.htm

Spring Mountain Ranch is a working cattle ranch dating back to the 1800's.  It was even once owned by Howard Hughes!  It has lush grass areas, pastures, lots of trees, and a very interesting ranch house with tons of history about the area.  There are an abundance of trails and hiking areas if you are so inclined.  It's also a great place to just relax and have a picnic.  It's just a great place to decompress before heading back into the madness of the LV Strip...

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park is located on Blue Diamond Road in Red Rock NCA.  Either take Charleston Blvd. west or Blue Diamond west and follow the signs.  You can't miss it.  Cost is $7.00 to enter.  Just be aware:  This place will not be fun to visit during a freezing wind or the summer heat.  Plan your visit and visit times wisely.

Here are some photos I took from my recent visit there:

  3. People in Las Vegas do things other than Drink, Gamble, Eat and wait for the Not An Agency girl to show up?
