Frontier Hotel 1942-2007

"This is the end result of all the bright lights... and the comp trips, of all the champagne... and free hotel suites,
and all the broads and all the booze. It's all been arranged just for us to get your money.
That's the truth about Las Vegas. We're the only winners. The players don't stand a chance. "

Just Some Random Photos…

Sunrise over the valley – taken from Summerlin.

Red Rock National Conservation Area.  I went hiking at Red Springs a few weeks ago – It’s on the other side of Red Rock.  I think it’s better for hiking and must less crowded, plus it’s free!

A few vintage “style”  pics from downtown LV.  If you can get past the dirt, trash, and homeless folks, there are some interesting sites to take photos of in downtown.

  1. I like your blog lot. You're capturing the essence of the place. When I lived in Vegas I used to head out to Red Rocks most weekends...a great place to take a break from that city.

  2. Nice photos, particularly the ones that appear to be from the neon-sign graveyard. Old, faded ... times gone by... but still the word "luck"!

  3. Thanks. That LUCK is a telephoto and cropping of the Lady Luck sign DT. Then I tweaked it in photoshop. I like it to!

  4. Are the photos of the Nevada Hotel and Casino from the old Nevada Place casino or are they even older and on a still-existing building? I really like the older looking photos for some reason.

  5. @flea:

I really don't the know answer to your question.

The photo was taken at the top of the GN parking garage. The building with the Nevada Hotel sign is directly due west of the GN parking garage.

What's interesting is that I did a Google search with images and this sign did not turn up. I drew a blank looking up this casino/hotel on the Internet also. JH.
